Police mentioned they were contacted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
