Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He rescued four early-game break points in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
